Colorblocking is a very attention demanding style. It must be worn proud, as this is a definite loud trend. I played with a few colors below to create a few cute colorblocking outfits. A great plus in having a fashion blog is that even when it’s too cold outside to wear cute dresses, I can still create and share them with you!

What’s your favorite style to wear at a wedding?!

Breakfast is perhaps the most important meal of your day, and as mentioned in previous articles should never be skipped. It’s the first meal of the day. Which means whatever you eat fuels your body or slows it down, depending on what you choose to eat. Just because you are in a rush, is not an excuse to skimp on breakfast or completely avoid it. This will just result in you being  in a groggy mood, and possible weight gain overtime.

Even though it might seem easier to stop by a coffee shop and pick up a quick breakfast, which will definitely be loaded with calories, carbs and sodium; this recipe takes under five minutes to prepare and enjoy. It will leave you full because of the oatmeal, and give you an energy boost from the whey protein. When i don’t have time to prepare and eat eggs, i’ll whip up a quick smoothie and be satisfied until lunchtime. Check out the recipe below, hope you enjoy it!

ingredients:

1/2 cup of regular oats

1 cup of non fat milk

1 serving of your favorite whey protein- i like chocolate flavored

about 14 frozen strawberries or mixed berries

1 banana (optional)

Preparation:

• Pour the oats in a blender and grate until they are finely chopped.
• Add in the milk, strawberries and whey protein and blend well. If you’d like to add a banana, blend the milk and banana first, then add the berries and whey.
• Pour and enjoy

Breakfast can’t get any easier than this! There is definitely no excuse for skipping this meal now!

Putting together outfits doesn’t have to be a long and tedious routine. Especially when you fill your wardrobe with pieces that can be used to create more than one outfit. For instance, you have a black pencil skirt. You can easily make three different outfits by accessorizing correctly. Keep it bussiness-like by wearing it with black  pumps, sheer nylons, a white button-up shirt, and a blazer. Add some color with a bright shirt, metallic accessories, and your favorite wedges. Or keep it simple and feminine by wearing a black top and emphasize your curves with a pretty belt around your waist. The same skirt is dressed up in different styles! This trick works best when you use a neutral piece and dress it up differently with each wear.

1. neutral trousers- trousers are appropriate attire for most jobs, and work well when you’d rather not wear a dress/skirt to an event. They can easily be dressed up with a nice blouse and jewelry, or dressed down with a polo and flats.

2. white button down shirt- can’t go wrong with a crisp white button-up shirt. Perfect for work, looks great with jeans. Toss on a blazer and some accesories and you got yourself a pretty stylish outfit.

3. neutral blazer- a blazer is a great option to dress up an outfit. Can be worn with slacks, skirts, dresses and even jeans to add a chic look. Can’t go wrong with a classic black blazer, or try a khaki or olive green one!

4. black or dark grey skirt-  a pencil skirt is a great piece to creating versatile looks. As mentioned earlier you can take a skirt and play with colors or accessories to create many different looks.

5. LBD- A classic staple, which must be in your wardrobe! You can’t ever go wrong with wearing a little black dress to a formal or casual event. Can be dressed up with glamourous jewelry and heels, or dressed down with a comfy cardigan and flats.

6. darkwash jeans- they don’t just look great on most body types, they also make your thighs appear slimmer :0 Darkwash jeans look great with tees and a hoody, and can be dressed up for a more formal occasion with heels/boots and a nice top.

7. black peacoat/trench- Every woman needs an elegant coat! It won’t just keep you warm in cold seasons, it will also never go out of style if you look for classic cuts and shop for a every-body flattering color like black.

8. black heels- everyone needs a great pair of black heels in their closet. Heels are versatile as they can work with jeans, skirts, shorts, dresses… If you are a shoe addict add color to an outfit with brights, but be sure to own at least one pair of black to wear for pretty much any occassion. Another plus, you can’t tell if they get a little dirty. Be sure to try on your heels prior to buying them, to ensure they are the right and a comfortable fit!

9.cute pair of flats- heels are great , especially with their added benefits of lenghtening and lifting! But once in a while give your feet a break and try a cute pair of flats. They work well with slacks, jeans, skirts and dresses. Buy a pair that fits your style, whether you like classic neutrals or want to add some color with bright flats.

10. camel  cardigan- a cardi comes in handy when weather is unexpected. They are also great for summer, because they are usually in a light fabric.  Very versatile when chosen in neutral shades. Try a nice camel colored one to avoid wearing as much black, but still having many outfit options.

Remember those days when you were still a child, and would desperately count the days until Christmas and New years finally arrived? Time seemed to go by so slow back then. It seems the older you get, the quicker life goes by. Must be the everyday worries like, jobs, bills, kids, cooking and all those daily acitvities. Either way, the coming of a new year is definitely a celebration, and it’s very interesting to see how other places have their own ways of celebrating it.

New years is celebrated all around the globe in different styles. Whether it’s by hanging out and partying the night away until the ball drops at Times Square, or spending time at home with the family to usher in the new year. Just as every culture has different traditions and ways of celebrating, some places have a different date for their new years day.  Below are a few ways different cultures ring in the New Year.

• In the US, New years is celebrated by spending time with your loved ones. Parades being hosted, firework shows, and of course a kiss under the mistletoe.
• In Mexican tradition, wearing red undergarments is believed to bring an overall improvement in lifestyle and strengthen love. And 12 grapes are eaten at midnight, while making one wish per grape.
• In Italy, a lentil stew is eaten at midnight to bring good fortune.
• Silence and secret wishes are done the last 12 seconds of the year in Russia.
• In Chile, wearing yellow underwear will get you engaged in the new year and wearing only new clothes will bring new changes.

Regardless of what date or how New Years is celebrated, i think the main ingredient which is part of all cultures is family. Welcoming a new year is best done surrounded by people you love. Whether it’s at a family dinner, going out with your girls, or doing a movie and take-out kind of date with your love. All that matters is celebrating another year together with those most important to you

My Julep Maven box arrived in record time! Literally three to four days. It came in a sexy little red box (perfect for the holiday!) with their logo an name inprinted on the box. The contents were wrapped in matching tissue paper, and individually packaged. My lovely little box included two nail polishes (each valued @ $17.00) in shades “Nicole” and “Whitney”. It also included a silver glitter pot to add some glitz to my polish, a glycolic hand scrub and samples of their age defying hand brightener and hand cream with SPF 30. As well as a very sweet welcoming letter. Pretty nice bundle for the price!

Let’s check out the products!

First let’s talk about “Nicole”. The color is a cheery red with shimmer to it, kind of reminds me of candied apples or candy cane red. Check out the picture below to see the shade. I added the glitter to the red for a nice holiday look. I took the pictures without applying top coat, since the polish itself had a nice glossy finish already. Though i do recommend you using top coat to seal the glitter in place, and prevent chipping.

“Whitney” is a nude shade of polish that i definitely adored. I love the look of natural lips and nails, but never find a polish that looks quite as i imagined. I must say i was deeply impressed by “Whitney”, and definitely see me ordering another tube once mine runs out. Check out the shade below! Those pictures were taken prior to applying top coat again so you can see the glossy finish, and it only took me one coat to get that finished look. This shade is described as a “mushroom greige, the perfect neutral” and i most definitely agree with it being a perfect neutral. “Whitney” was my favorite surprise inside my maven box

The glitter pot was easy to apply and came in a good portion. I simply sprinkled some over my freshly painted nails, but you can get fancy and use a brush to do a glitter-version of a french. Glitter always adds a fun and girly look to nails!

The hand scrub wasn’t too impressive, it came out more liquid-like than i’d expect a scrub to feel like. But it cleansed my hands alright. Followed it with the hand cream which had a soft, thick texture to it. I also tried the hand brightening cream which felt silky, and left my hands feeling ultra soft without a greasy feeling. The soft and silky-feel to my hands lasted quite a while, which is a definite plus.  Both the hand cream and age defying brightener had a nice scent to them.

Overall the Maven box program is a great idea at an affordable price. I especially recommend it if you love having your nails done, and trying out new polishes quite often.
