Ouai haircare treatment masque review

I purchased a hair treatment box from Sephora a while ago, which had a variety of hair masques to try out. Included was a small tube of Ouai’s hair care treatment masque. I saved it for last, and am pretty glad I did so. Keep reading to find out why!

While maintaining my blonde tresses, I’ve managed to do a hair treatment weekly. I purchased a sample box, because I wanted to do a trial before committing to a full size bottle. (If you are searching for a hair masque/treatment I highly recommend doing this). Within my box came a small 1 oz tube of Ouai’s hair care treatment masque.

The sample lasted me three treatments. (A little bit goes a long way). I tried the treatment both on wet and dry hair, but felt it worked better on my hair when applied to pre-shampooed, damp hair. The first time I used it, it definitely left my hair feeling silky while the masque was on, when I washed it off my hair felt as though it had a protective silicon barrier, though it is a paraben-free formula. The second time I used it, the jasmine scent really hit me. And I loved it! I’m not sure why I hadn’t noticed it the first time around, but if you are a fan of floral-smelling hair masques you will love Ouai’s. You get the scent while applying it, while the treatment is on, and it washes off to a very faint remain. My third trial had me hooked. This stuff not only smells great, it also helps your hair feel soft and manageable days after you use it. When you have damaged hair, manageable hair days-after is a great thing.

My only issue with Ouai’s haircare treatment masque is that the full size product comes in packs instead of a bottle. You get eight 3 oz packets for $32, which are nice if you travel often but I’d much rather have a bottle or jar of this stuff. I feel like you have to cut the little packets and wipe them on your hair to make sure you get your money’s worth. Besides that, I would definitely repurchase Ouai’s hair care treatment masques or try other products from the line.

Have you used Ouai’s masque before, what was your experience with them? Not one product works for all, so your thoughts are appreciated 🙂

Daily Goodie Box May review

April’s Daily Goodie Box came with all the cool samples below.

This month had a nice variety with products I hadn’t yet heard of, and a few from companies I already knew about.

Ona cookies

Ona cookies brownie tasted delicious. They were soft, but had a nice texture with the chopped nuts added in. It’s a nice snack, especially when looking for healthy and clean products. Would definitely buy these to satisfy cravings. Check them out here!

Viter energy caffeinated breath mints

I had no idea caffeinated breath mints existed, thank you Daily Goodie Box for introducing them to me! I got a wintergreen flavor pack and it was very yummy. Nice way to freshen up your breath, and get a kick of caffeine. Try tthem out for yourself here.

Natralia eczema body wash & shampoo

I had previously tried this brand from a lotion in a previous Goodie Box, and loved the fact Natralia aims for natural products you can trust. Especially when it comes to products for your kids, you want to make sure you know what goes on their skin. I tried this as body wash and really liked the fact it didn’t have overpowering scents, as well as the active ingredient being colloidal oatmeal. It had a lotion-like texture and left my skin feeling smooth. Definitely nice to keep around if your kids have dry, itchy skin,  or in case rashes happen. Check out this and other great products from Natralia here.

Volo vitamins energy sticks

Grab a stick and go! Nice pick me up to keep in your purse for when you are low on energy. I liked the citrus flavored one a little more than the berry, simply because I prefer lemon flavored drinks. Not too sweet when mixed with a good amount of water, and even more refreshing with ice. I like this type of energy drink over others that overstimulate the body. Check them out here.

Tiger Balm pain relieving patch

Oldie but a goodie! If you have ever used Tiger Balm for pains or sprains you will probably remember it’s scent and goopy texture, and now they offer a quick yet effective alternative with these patches. Ladies who suffer from back pain from pms, you seriously need this. Tried and loved it. Relieves the pain, without the mess or harsh scent. Stock up on these convenient and effective Tiger Balm patches here.

Kicking horse coffee

In case I haven’t mentioned it before, I love coffee! My daily coffee ritual started after having my first baby, and it’s still going strong after my second born. With that being said, I was soooo happy to receive this full size sample of Kicking Horse coffee in a dark roast. This was the first thing I tried out of my Daily Goodie Box.  I love the packaging, and even more the fact this dark roast is describedas “sweet, smoky, audacious”. I brewed myself a cup and tried it black to get the actual flavor, it tasted good. Smooth, you get a subtle sweetness, and I actually didn’t mind drinking the full cup with nothing added to it. Coffee lover? You can’t pass this one up, look for Kicking Horse’s various roasts here.

Georgia Grinders creamy peanut butter

If I could describe Georgia Grinders creamy peanut butter in one word, it would be balance. It tastes like you took some peanuts, lightly salted them, and grinded then to a creamy spread. I’ve had various peanut butter brands, and this one ranks as probably the most natural-tasting. I’m sure that’s exactly what they were aiming for, mission achieved. You have to knead it before squeezing it out to ensure it has that soft and creamy texture. Are you looking for a natural and great tasting peanut butter? Then get your own Georgia Grinders peanut butter here.

Andalou face cream

This sample couldn’t have come at a better time! I was literally looking for a new face cream since I had just finished the one I had been using. The sample I received from Andalou was a hyaluronic DMAE lift & firm cream. The job of this cream is to give you a lifted, former and more youthful appearance (who doesn’t want that right?!) It’s vegan, and most importantly, cruelty free. It had a very light fruity scent and left my face feeling soft and clean, with no added weight or oils. I could definitely see myself purchasing a full size of this one, mostly because of that tight, clean feeling it left. No redness, dryness or breakout after using it for well over a week. Try out Andalou’s creams and check out their various products here.

Swago cologne

The hubby was a little hesitant on helping me out by trying this Swago cologne, mostly because it was a wipe 🙂 I wasn’t sure what to expect from a cologne wipe either, but surprisingly it had a nice scent to it. To best describe it, it smelled like a clean man’s cologne. Not too musty, more on the freshly showered side. Be sure to only do a few dabs of these wipes so as not to overdo it. Never had I heard of cologne wipes, yet they seem like a perfect addition for a guy on the go. Keep some stashed in your car, or at the office. Grab some Swago cologne wipes for your favorite guy here.

Prince of Peace ginger candy

I’ll admit, when I saw these in the box I wasn’t too excited. But once I opened one up and realized it was a chewy kind, my first impression changed. I have tried ginger candy before, but a chewy kind was a first for me. I tried four the first time, because I couldn’t stop after the first lol. They are coated in powdered sugar, which is a nice offset to the ginger. The chewy texture makes this ginger candy stick out from others I’ve tried. If you are pregnant or want to get something to keep around for when you have an upset tummy, get these! You not only get the great health benefits ginger provides, but it’s a nice little gummy treat. Buy some here.

How To Break The Lather Habit: A Review Of WEN Hair Care Products

You might be used to dumping a large dollop of shampoo on your head and lathering up in the shower. WEN by Chaz Dean turns that idea on its head.

That thick lather is often produced by sulfates. Sulfates are cheap detergents that are harsh and can strip your hair of moisture and color. You may be damaging your hair as you cleanse it if you use a sulfate-based shampoo.

What Is WEN?

WEN by Chaz is a line of hair care products that doesn’t contain sulfates or harsh chemicals and its star product is the Cleansing Conditioner. This 5-in-1 product cleanses and conditions your hair. You simply massage it into your hair and scalp and then rinse. There’s no need to use a separate conditioner. If you do need additional detangling, you can add more Cleansing Conditioner to your strands at the end of your shower.

WEN also offers a few styling products that can be used after the shower. Nourishing Mousse helps provide volume and protection from the elements. Anti-Frizz Styling Crème goes further than the leave-in Cleansing Conditioner to keep your hair looking sleek. The Moist Intensive Hair Treatment offers more concentrated protection.

Strengthen Hair Naturally

The WEN hair care line provides multi-use products that don’t contain harsh chemicals. When you use these products, you allow your hair and scalp to naturally balance themselves out. Many users report having much softer, shiner hair even after using WEN only once.

Are you used to having squeaky-clean hair after shampooing? While your hair may seem clean, it can also feel frizzy and dry. Instead of stripping your hair of its natural oils, WEN uses natural botanicals to protect your hair. This leaves your hair shinier and less prone to frizz.

As you continue to use the product, your scalp will get used to the new type of cleanser. After using regular shampoo, your scalp might go overboard, producing more oil to try to moisturize your locks. After using WEN products, your scalp may begin to create less oil, letting you go longer in between washings.

Washing Your Hair Without Suds

So many beauty product advertisements make us believe that a thick lather is the key to proper cleansing. When you begin to use WEN hair care products, you might be surprised by the lack of suds. It can take time to get used to the process.

However, the gorgeous hair that results from using this product will help you quickly adjust to your new, streamlined shower routine. You’ll no longer need to use several different products to make your hair look clean, healthy and perfectly styled.

Considering eyelash extensions? Check out my experience and review first!

When I was about seven years old, I decided it would be a good idea to cut my eyelashes. Very short, almost to the point where I had no eyelashes left. A decision I wasn’t bothered by much when I was younger, but as I have grown I always wondered if my eyelashes would be much longer if I would’ve never cut them off. So when I heard about the awesome procedure that gave you long and luscious eyelashes, with upkeep, I went for it.

I was at the salon, getting my nails done, when I saw a special they were having on eyelash extensions and decided to get them done. I knew this place was good, and had yelped them on their services prior to my visit. The technician was pretty fast, with the whole process taking about an hour and a half. She guided me through what she was going to do. And once she was done, provided me with aftercare instructions. She advised me not to let water touch my lashes for the next 48 hours to ensure the lashes adhere well and remain put. Also gave me a lash comb,(which is pretty much a small mascara wand) so I could  brush them, as well as remove anything that could get caught on them. She also told me to wash them with baby soap to keep them gently clean. Then came the fun part, I got to check out my pretty lashes in the mirror! I was so happy with my beautiful, LONG, and curled lashes; I could not wait to go show them off!

Before eyelash extensions

After eyelash extensions

I followed instructions that were provided and went back for a fill after three weeks. I kept the routine going for about six months, then due to a busier schedule decided to say farewell to my pretty long lashes.

Overall, I loved the experience of having lash extensions. I liked the fact I didn’t have to apply any eye makeup or eyeliner and still felt put together. They got me lots of compliments,  and since I chose a natural yet dramatic look, they could pass as my own. Once all my extensions fell out, I noticed my natural lashes seemed shorter. And since I already had small lashes to begin with, that was not a good thing. I was worried the extensions had damaged my natural lashes, but within a month or so my lashes lengthened out. Perhaps I was just so used to having long lashes, once they were gone I had to get reacquainted with my natural lashes. Or maybe the weight of the extensions caused temporary damage to my natural ones. Either way, my lashes are back to normal.

If you are wondering whether or not you should get lash extensions,  I say go for it. However, check out the place you go to prior to getting them done to ensure they know what they are doing. Also, ask questions before you get them done to be sure your technician is knowledgeable. And be prepared to commit time and money to your lashes. Fills take about 30-45 minutes and range from $70 and up, and they must be done every 2-4 weeks. The first application ranges from $100 and up depending on the type of lashes you are getting and usually take about 2 hours to apply.

If you’d rather go the temporary route to long and lustrous lashes,  check out a few good falsies and mascaras below.

Daily Goodie Box April review

Another month means another awesome Daily Goodie Box to review! Behold the goodies packed inside the April box below.

They also included coupons for the companies that provided products this month. The addition of coupons was a smart move, since it’s a nice incentive to order some of the goodies you liked with a nice discount.

Now let’s check our each of the goodies included in April’s Daily Goodie Box 🙂

Bunches of crunches

This granola is made of grains, chia, amongst other natural yummy ingredients. The flavor is dark chocolate sea salt. I had planned to use it in yogurt or as a cereal, but ended up eating it straight out of the bag. Good idea! It tasted very good, and served as a guilt free snack, since the entire package was only 130 calories. If you like granola, highly recommend this brand.  The chocolate and sea salt combination was the perfect pair. Check out more Bakery on Main products here, or try this Bunches of crunches grainola.

#MPWR zip, zap, gone! spot treatment stick

#MPWR is a stick to treat blemishes. The witch hazel extract helps fight pimples, but surprisingly it doesn’t sting when applied. The scent is also not overpowering as with other spot treatment sticks I’ve tried. Applied it to a pimple that had just popped up, and within two days it was gone. It helped in preventing that big red bump stage, and didn’t dry out my skin. I love that it’s organic, non-drying, and does what it says. Get your own spot corrector stick here, or check out more organic #MPWR skincare products.

Goddess Garden natural sunscreen

This sunscreen by Goddess Garden is a spf30 for everyday wear. I wore it on a sunny day out, and it definitely protected my arms from getting tanned by the sun. But my favorite part about this sunscreen was that even though it protects from the sun, it’s light. I applied it to my arms and face, and was so surprised by how well it applied on my face. It doesn’t leave a typical thick, greasy feeling as most sunscreens and even better I really couldn’t detect that unpleasant sunscreen scent. Try one for yourself here, or check out more products by Goddess Garden Organics.

Eboost energy powder

This little packet packs a big punch of energy. It was a nice taste of strawberry kiwi, not artificial tasting or overly sweet. Gave me a nice pick me up when I needed it, and it faded over time on its own without a groggy feeling left behind. Nice alternative to over sugared and over caffeinated energy drinks.  Try your own Eboost energy powder here

Slurpee cotton candy

I think for most adults, cotton candy brings them back to their childhood. I was very excited to try out Slurpee’s very own cherry cotton candy, and even better to have shared it with my daughter. She tried it and asked “what is this”, when I told her it was cotton candy, she said “I like cotton candy!” The cherry flavor was sweet, and cotton candy was fluffy as it should. It’s nicely packaged for a sweet gift, or party favors. Get one for yourself here!

Peanut Butter & Co mighty nut powdered peanut butter

I have always been curious about trying out powdered peanut butter, so this packet was a nice surprise. There were two servings which I used to make smoothies. I didn’t use too many ingredients to make sure I got to taste the peanut butter. This packet was vanilla flavored and tasted very good. No chalky aftertaste, just a nice vanilla bean addition. The nice thing about Peanut Butter & Co peanut butter is that it has less fat than traditional peanut butter spreads and a nice five grams of protein per serving. Check out more flavors here, or you can’t go wrong with their vanilla powdered peanut butter.

Quick Dude Shower Wipes

For that dude in your life, that you want to keep fresh and clean. These handy wipes are pretty much as stated, used to wipe yourself clean when a shower isn’t available.  One of the ingredients is aloe, which is great for your skin. My hubby did the honors of trying them out and liked the fact they weren’t scented and didn’t affect his sensitive skin. These are awesome for road trips or to keep in your car in case you ever need to freshen up. Grab some wipes for yourself or that special dude in your life here.

Detox Water- Lychee and White Grape

I have seriously never been a fan of aloe water, until I tried this one. Detox Water paved the way for me to like aloe water and try other ones to compare to this one. Lychee and white grape was the flavor that came in my Goodie Box. It tasted crisp, not too sweet and quenched my thirst. It didn’t have any aloe chunks as found in other ones, nor the high amount of sugar and calories.  I know that aloe is great for digestive, skin and many other issues, which makes drinking this “healing hydration”, as it states on the back of the bottle. Grab some Detox Water for yourself here, and don’t forget to check out other flavors as well!

Adāmia Therapeutic Repair Lotion

This Adāmia Therapeutic Repair Lotion is a moisturizing yet light one. It has a very light scent but it’s not overpowering or lingers on your skin. It’s a therapeutic lotion meant for dry or cracked skin, but I liked it enough as a an everyday lotion. The macadamia oil found in this lotion is what makes it therapeutic, as the tube states; macadamia oil mimics skins’ natural oils. Very nice addition to this goodie box, get yourself an Adāmia Therapeutic Repair Lotion or check out their other products here

Hope this review was useful to you, have you heard or tried any of these products?!

Beauty Benefits of Jojoba Oil: Your New Shaving Buddy

A question that I get a lot from my clients is “How do you shave?”. Most people prefer to use wax strips because they are easy to use. For me, I prefer to use razors because they are less painful (If you use them the right way). It’s important for me to point out that your hair will not grow out thicker or faster by using a razor. This is simply a misconception that most people have. When you shave your hair, the blade of your razor leaves your hair with a blunt tip. As the tip grows out, it feels more course. However, it is not “thicker”. With that in mind, using a razor for shaving is one of the easiest and painless ways to ensure that your skin stays smooth.

Shaving creams and gels often contain many harmful ingredients like Triethanolamine (TEA), Diethanolamine (DEA) and Monoethanolamine (MEA) which are linked to hormone disruptions. To make matters worse, these ingredients can easily be absorbed into the skin. In addition, I often avoid shaving products with “fragrance” because I simply don’t know what they used to create the scent.

If you are looking for a natural product that protects and smooths your skin before and after shaving, I highly recommend using jojoba oil.

Jojoba oil is great for eliminating razor burns. It helps to moisturize and soften the area that you want to shave. I use it all the time in my shaving routine. Here is how I go about using it:

1) Clean Area That You Want to Shave – Use your regular cleanser here. Make sure that you clean off any excess oil, dirt or grease.

2) Apply Diluted Jojoba Oil – Apply jojoba oil on the area that you want to shave. Let the oil soak in for about 15 minutes. The Jojoba oil will soften your skin and create a smooth surface for your razor to glide.

3) Apply Organic Shaving Cream and Shave – Your safest bet is to use an organic shaving cream. This ensures that no harmful ingredients will be absorbed into your skin during the shaving process. Organic shaving creams are a bit more expensive, but you will definitely feel the difference after the shave. Apply shaving cream on the area that you want to shave and ensure that you cover all areas needed.

4) Shave with Clean and Sharp Razor – Minimize the drag by using a clean and sharp razor, this combined with jojoba oil pretty much eliminates any chances of razor burn. You will find that shaving this way requires very little effort.

5) Clean shaved area and apply moisturizer – Rinse shaved area with cold water and apply an organic moisturizer. Enjoy your newly shaved and beautiful skin!

I hope that my tips for using jojoba oil for shaving are useful to you. I have been using this method for a few years and I have never had a razor burn since I started adding jojoba oil in my shaving routine. I highly recommend this method! Thanks for reading my article! Happy shaving!
