Lipsense by SeneGence review: Read before you buy

Have you heard about LipSense? Been added to a LipSense party on Facebook? Wondering if you should buy or skip it? Well, then you have come to the right place! Check out pictures, swatches, and an honest, non-affiliated review, that will help you decide whether you should try LipSense, or pass it up.

I heard about LipSense from one of my friends who had tried and loved the long lasting lipsticks. I was pretty excited to try one out for myself when she decided to host a LipSense Facebook party. So, I decided to buy a kit and see if they lived up to their hype.

I purchased a LipSense lipstick in “hazelnut”, a matte gloss, and the oops remover. I chose the shade hazelnut, because I wanted a color that was soft enough for daily use, but not too light that it would seem as if I wasn’t wearing lipstick. I also prefer more neutral, nude tones, rather than pink or berry hues. The color did not disappoint when applied. Hazelnut is a nice light brown, very neutral, yet noticeable shade.

LipSense by SeneGence offers a few types of glosses, since I don’t like glossy lips on myself, I chose a matte gloss. The gloss is recommended to seal the color and ensure long lasting results. I applied my matte gloss approximately five seconds after applying my hazelnut lipstick, as the directions said, and was once again pleased with the results. Did as promised, gave me a matte hazelnut pout.

The oops remover is recommended to remove the lipstick, since the LipSense promise is waterproof, kiss proof, and smudge proof. So, in case you make a mistake when applying, you can go ahead and fix it with the oops remover; and when you are ready to remove your lipstick you go ahead and do so with oops as well.

To answer one of the questions you probably have, YES, it is definitely water, smudge and kiss proof! I applied my LipSense in the morning and drank my coffee, ate my meals, kissed my kids and husband, drank my water, and the color lasted through it all. I even did a late evening workout, and my LipSense stayed put. There is some fading that occured on the inner part of my lips, but I didnt notice it until probably after the seventh or eight hour of wear, which is pretty good considering I didn’t reapply once.

Now, let’s talk money. Pricey? In my opinion,  yes. The lipstick is $25, the gloss is $20 and the oops remover  $10. But, I must admit, I am happy with my purchase. I like the color, and I love the fact I can apply it at the start of my day and not worry about it fading away immediately after breakfast, or doing a side kiss to avoid ruining my lipstick when my hubby goes in for a kiss. The oops remover, I could do without. I feel confident enough in my application, that I don’t feel a need for it. And the color does eventually come off, so with a little lip scrub before bed one night, I was able to remove it from my lips.

One thing I did not like, is the fact the main ingredient in LipSense lipstick is alcohol. When I saw that, I was like oops, dry lips for sure. But, since there is shea butter in the gloss, my lips didn’t seem noticeably dry after wearing it. Another thing, that tingly feeling you get when you use lip plumping lipsticks, you get that same feeling when applying the LipSense color. It wasn’t a good or bad sensation in my experience, but something to point out.

Overall, I don’t regret my purchase. If you are considering trying out LipSense, I say go for it. Get the lip color you like and a gloss of your choice, but in my opinion, skip the oops remover.

10 best ombre hair color ideas

Ombre hair color has been a trend for the last few years. Whether you love it, or hate it, it’s one of the top looks requested at salons, and seems to be here to stay. Though some might say it looks like someone simply let their haircolor grow out and let their roots come out, there is actually a bit more work to ensuring an ombre haircolor is painted well. The stylist has to ensure the hair is blended nicely to avoid a line of demarcation, and to get that softer look instead.

There are many shades and color combinations you can choose from. The most easy to care for ombre is the one where you let your natural hair color on the roots. Don’t forget to buy yourself a purple shampoo to refresh your blonde, and remove any unwanted brassy tones. The good thing about this look is if you get tired of your ombre, you can mix it up by adding a temporary color like pink, teal or a mix of colors to make a rainbow ombre instead. Hope this article gave you the ombre inspiration you were looking for 😉

Daily Goodie Box February review

My February Daily Goodie Box arrived in the mail, and did not disappoint with all the goodies included! Check out all the “samples” they shared below.

I call them “samples” because some are pretty much full size, and I am not complaining 😉

Coffee Blocks better butter coffee

I have been anticipating my Goodie Box, because I heard this was included this time. A cup of coffee is part of my daily routine, and I love trying out new coffee related things. Coffee Blocks are pretty much what the name states, a compacted block of coffee, mixed with clarified butter, coconut oil, coffee, egg yolks, and organic pure vanilla extract. At 210 calories a block, it’s almost a meal all on it’s own. Here is a picture of what it looks like prior to mixing with hot water.

Don’t be fooled by that! It mixes into a frothy, creamy cup of Joe.

And it pretty much tastes like coffee with coconut oil, in a good creamy way. It is not overpowering and left me full, and fully caffeinated. It is a great blend, and the coffee is a good strength. It gave me a good boost, and I love the fact egg yolks and butter were part of the ingredients. A good source of protein, fat and my favorite meal of the day- coffee! Buy coffee blocks  and try it for yourself, highly recommend them and will definitely buy a pack myself.

Nature’s Bakery Raspberry Fig Bar

Nature’s Bakery Raspberry Fig Bar is made of stone ground whole wheat, and it’s pretty much a healthy version of a fig bar. It tasted very good and two small bars came in a package, at 90 calories each. I had both bars and was full after eating them, which make these a great snack to toss in your purse, in case you need an energy boost on a busy day. These bars are cholesterol free, dairy free and kosher, so you know you are getting a snack from a company that is doing their part on creating a high quality bar. Awesome alternative to a standard bar for you to try. Check them out here!

Just chill sparkling calming beverage

This beverage is made to provide you a burst of energy, but in a calming nature. It’s made to support a calm and focused mind, while reducing stress. First off, the taste is very good. A nice sparkling berry flavor, not too sweet or carbonated, which made it a nice blend to enjoy. The aesthetics of this beverage are nice on its own, and yes some people do care about the packaging when choosing a drink.

I am not big on energy drinks, but I liked the fact this beverage was what it promised.  A chill drink. No jitters, a nice kick of energy that helped me get through that midday slump,  without the sluggish crash or shaky jitters. Relax and grab your own Just Chill beverage here.

Jack N’ Jill raspberry natural toothpaste

This is a mother tested, kid approved toothpaste! I was so excited to get this goodie in my box because I buy natural toothpaste for my kids already, and was actually contemplating this brand a few months ago.

So, I gave it a go with my toddlers and asked what they thought of it, as compared to their current toothpaste. To simply put it, my eldest was asking to brush again with the raspberry toothpaste the next day, and the day after! I used it also to see what it was all about, you definitely get that raspberry flavor, in a good way, not an artificial taste at all, and a light subtle kick of it. It leaves your teeth and mouth feeling clean, and most importantly the kids loved it. I might have found a new permanent toothpaste for my little ones thanks to my Goodie Box 🙂 Buy a tube for your kiddies here.

Aloha Daily Good Greens

This chocolate blend whole food powder surprised me in a good way. I was expecting a not so good, chalky powder, but thankfully that was not the case. I made this blend on an afternoon where I was needing a nap, but had a ton of stuff to do. I mixed it with only water, because I wanted to taste the actual blend. You definitely get the hint of chocolate,  no yucky aftertaste,  and I sipped it instead of downing my drink to avoid the taste. Thumbs up to Aloha on making a good tasting whole food powder. And yes, I did get a kick of energy to get through the rest of my day! Get your own Aloha Daily Good Greens packets here.

Gorilly Goods

This Forest dark chocolate, fruit and nut snack by Gorilly Goods was too good to be considered a healthy treat! They are organic, gluten free, raw, vegan non- gmo, and cholesterol free. The whole package is 250 calories and the cool part about these snacks is 2% of profits go to the Dean Fossey  gorilla fund. As they say, “helping people. saving gorillas.”

Gorilly Goods tasted like a cluster of chocolate and fruits and nuts. The thing I liked most was that each cluster tasted different,  you get the banana taste, the various nuts, some tasted like coconut. A yummy treat that is raw and organic, and should make you feel good since you are also helping gorillas with each purchase. So nourish yourself with a healthy snack, and help save gorillas along the way by clicking here and getting some Gorilly Goods for yourself 🙂

Xylichew gum in spearmint flavor is dedicated to providing a chewstasic experience, without the extra additives found in most gums, which can actually be bad for you and your teeth. They use birch xylitol, which might help reduce the risk of tooth decay. As you can see from the image above,  it is vegan, no soy or titanium dioxide found in it amongst other great things. And, I love that warning they put “not for pets”! Though xylitol is good for humans, it can actually kill our doggies, so please don’t leave this or any xylitol product near your pups’ reach.

Xylichew gum had a nice spearmint taste to it, not too overpowering,  and had a nice texture that didn’t harden up over time. The spearmint flavor didn’t last too long, which I didn’t like too much, but my husband did. Left you with a clean taste in your mouth afterwards, and it’s good to know chewing these might help your teeth in the long run, not just a temporary bad breath fix. Spearmint and cinnamon are my favorite gum flavors, and I definitely see myself purchasing  Xylichew next time. Grab yourself a pack here

Dream Water sleep powder

I had tried Dream Water in my previous Goodie Box. I liked the fact you do feel refreshed the next morning.  On occasion I wake up with aches and feeling like I got no sleep, but after trying Dream Water twice, I can say it helps with that. Check out my last Goodie Box review for my last review on this sleep powder, or if you are ready for a restful nights’ sleep, check out Dream Water products here

Vermont smoke and cure

Vermont smoke and cure beef and pork sticks have no antibiotics, added hormones and are gluten free. I got this cracked pepper flavored stick in my Goodie Box and shared it with my hubby. The flavor was very light, I would have preferred a bit more of a pepper kick to it. However, I liked the fact the meat has a nice chewing texture to it. You can tell this is a higher grade beef stick than others because of that. I have had other jerry sticks that have a tough, chewy almost gritty texture, Vermont smoke and cure had none of that. If you enjoy these type of snacks, I definitely recommend you giving Vermont smoke and cure almost try. Find this cracked pepper stick and other of their products here

Nellie’s All-Natural laundry soda & Wow stick

Nellie’s All-Natural laundry soda and wow stick are products made in Canada and are leaping bunny certified, which means they do not test on animals. On top of that these products are committed to providing natural ingredients that do not leave behind residue, and leaves clothes soft and clean.

That pesky little stain has resisted a previous wash, so I put the wow stick to the test. Mission accomplished! The wow stick removed that stain and the laundry soda left my kids’ clothes clean and soft. Most importantly, I don’t have to worry about their sensitive skin, or any harsh chemicals left behind. Check out more of Nellie’s products here, and read the pretty cool story about what inspired the Nellie’s brand of Better, and natural cleaners.

Also included were coupons for 25% of Gorilly Goods products and 20% off Aloha products. As well as a pamphlet to further explore Jack N’ Jill products:)

Overall, I am very impressed with the February Daily Goodie Box. I feel they put a lot of thought into selecting quality items from companies that care about making natural, top notch products.

10 week at home workout for women

I found this awesome infographic on Pinterest via It is a ten week workout schedule, no gym needed! Check out the actual post here for a full detailed schedule, or check out the handy infographic below.

What I like about the moves they chose is, that they workout your full body and help build strength. If you are athletic already, just do a couple sets of each. It’s a pretty simple routine to follow, and as long as you also eat healthy meals, you should see results. Most importantly, don’t give up! Do the full ten weeks, and see what happens.

So, give it a try and let me know what you thought about it!

Ciate chisel eyeliner review

I love me a good liquid eyeliner, and have been a big fan of Kat Von D’s lately, but I decided to give another brand a chance. Ciate is comparable in price, and it had pretty good reviews at so I went for it.

I liked the packaging, very nice metallic geometric design, and classy with the black and white theme. I was super excited to try it out, until I realized the chisel tip wasn’t as awesome as it flaunts. It was difficult to create a straight line with this liner due to smudging, and the fact you have to wait for it to dry. I felt the tip was too wet, and if you don’t hold the liner at the correct angle, too much product comes out.

A bit wobbly, but the color is a nice, intense and rich shade of black. The most important tips when working with this eyeliner are: to apply while holding the liner at a 90° angle, and not applying too much when lining the inner eye, since that’s where the smudging usually occurs. Holding the liner at a 90° angle is a must with this eyeliner, otherwise it makes a huge mess.

As I mentioned, the color is nice and intense, it does stay on all day without further smudging and comes off easily when washed off. However, if I am paying $20 for an eyeliner, I expect it to dry quickly without having to wait with my lid closed, and to be able to draw a straight line without a hassle. Will I be buying it again? Nope, a bit disappointed since I have purchased drugstore brands that work better than this one. Think I will stick to other liquid liners for a while. Check out a few of my favorites below.

Have you tried Ciate chisel eyeliner, did you like it or was your experience similar to mine?

Daily Goodie Box review

Monthly subscription boxes are everywhere nowadays. But how cool would it be to get a monthly box of samples for free?!

Very cool, right?! Thanks to Daily Goodie Box, this is now a possibility. No catch, no “you have to pay for shipping”, all you have to do is sign up at their website, and when available they will send you a box. All they ask for in return, is for honest reviews on the items received. Seriously,  that’s it!

Lucky for me, they were able to send out my first monthly box, filled with all these goodies!

My first thought about some of the items was, these are samples?! So excited to share my thoughts on each item below, so please keep reading 🙂

Beanfields nacho flavored chips

Beanfields is a family owned company which makes bean and rice chips. My Goodie box included a bag of Nacho flavored chips. They are vegan, gluten free, and yup, you guessed it, made of a black bean, navy bean and brown rice blend. They were delicious, crispy, and very full of flavor. My husband could taste a slight bean flavor, but I didnt catch it until the aftertaste. My three and one year old practically ate the whole bag! Awesome alternative to other chip brands. I 100% would recommend and buy this brand of chips again after trying them out.

Gary Poppins lite popcorn

First off, 90 calories per bag! Simply sea salt flavored and literally the only ingredients are: popcorn, coconut oil,  sunflower oil, and sea salt. The popcorn tasted as it should, I didn’t taste much of the sea salt flavor,  however it is supposed to be a lite option so it makes sense. This one wasn’t my favorite ouf of all the snacks in my Goodie Box, but honestly I am not big on popcorn in general. It definitely seems like a good alternative to other popcorn if you are looking for a low calorie, more natural product.

EmPact protein & energy bar

Maple-liscious flavor. This bar is seriously summed up by the flavors name, DELICIOUS! It tasted like a maple/brown sugar mix, more like a candy bar than a protein bar. I had never heard of this brand before, but I am glad to have discovered it in my Goodie Box. It’s made of chia seeds and pecans, and that mixture created a delicious and filling bar. It has 10g of protein and 150 calories per bar. It is a much smaller bar than other protein bars I have tried, but it is so much more tastier and seriously fills you up. I am very impressed with this bar and will be keeping a lookout next time I’m at the grocery store.

Raw Rev Glo protein bars

At first glance, it doesn’t look too appealing. My first bite reminded me of a typical protein bar, but then something magical happened. Gooey chocolate was hidden in the middle of the bar, and it completely changed up this protein bar’s game! This one has 11g of protein and 180 calories. I could definitely taste the chocolate and peanut butter, but not so much of the sea salt. The ingredients are a big plus on this bar, consisting of: Raw Rev superfood blend ( peanuts, pea protein, brown rice protein, raw organic hemp protein, raw organic coconut oil,  raw organic Chia seeds, raw organic sprouted flax seeds), prebiotic fiber from tapioca, organic Italian dark chocolate chips,  and sea salt. Awesome, organic, quality ingredients, plus the gooey chocolate surprise within the bar sets Raw Rev Glo protein bars apart from other protein bars companies.

Dream Water Sleep Powder

Dream Powder in snoozeberry is a powder meant to do just as the name suggests, help you sleep. However, it states to be drug free thus avoiding dependency as with other sleep aids. It works within 30 minutes of taking and it recommends avoiding caffeine, television and your phone prior to sleeping. The flavor is ok, not my favorite, however I can definitely say I got a much more relaxed sleep than I normally do. Woke up feeling good, not groggy or feeling like I needed more sleep ( with two toddlers that’s pretty much the norm nowadays) ! I am not big on sleeps aids, but this one seems to be a good alternative.

Älsa energy mix sticks

Efficient sustained energy mix in a variety of flavors. After having kids, I traded  energy drinks for a nice cup of coffee. But I did give these convenient mixes a try one afternoon on which I much needed an energy boost. I tried the three citrus one, the whole packet is only 30 calories. I poured in half into a full cup of water as I was expecting a too sweet taste. Surprisingly,  I ended up pouring the full mix in since the taste was not at all sweet, even with the full stick. The taste was of citrus, not overpowering and not too sweet. It 100% gave me an energy kick so I could finish up my day, and I did not experience the typical fatigued crash when the drinks’ kick ends. That’s a plus for this mix since most energy drinks give you a jolt of energy and then drop you down when it ends. If you like energy drinks, don’t skip this one. I think it’s a much better option than what is out there.

Natralia anti-itch soothing cream

Natralia anti-itch soothing cream is an Australian brand lotion for fast acting relief from dry itchy skin. The ingredients listed make this a pretty safe lotion to use if you have sensitive skin, with colloidal oatmeal and menthol being the main ingredients. I didn’t have a need for this lotion while trying it out, so I lathered some on my arm and elbow to test it out. You immediately get the scent and a cool tingling feeling from the menthol, but it is not overbearing. It left me with soft skin for the whole day. I can definitely see how it can be a fast acting relief for itchy or dry skin from the menthol itself, plus oatmeal is well known for it’s soothing effect on skin.

I enjoyed my Daily Goodie Box for the month of January, my favorite item was definitely the EmPact protein bar. This subscription box is a cool and FREE way to discover new products before you buy. Sign yourself up here!
