Beauty Benefits of Jojoba Oil: Your New Shaving Buddy

A question that I get a lot from my clients is “How do you shave?”. Most people prefer to use wax strips because they are easy to use. For me, I prefer to use razors because they are less painful (If you use them the right way). It’s important for me to point out that your hair will not grow out thicker or faster by using a razor. This is simply a misconception that most people have. When you shave your hair, the blade of your razor leaves your hair with a blunt tip. As the tip grows out, it feels more course. However, it is not “thicker”. With that in mind, using a razor for shaving is one of the easiest and painless ways to ensure that your skin stays smooth.

Shaving creams and gels often contain many harmful ingredients like Triethanolamine (TEA), Diethanolamine (DEA) and Monoethanolamine (MEA) which are linked to hormone disruptions. To make matters worse, these ingredients can easily be absorbed into the skin. In addition, I often avoid shaving products with “fragrance” because I simply don’t know what they used to create the scent.

If you are looking for a natural product that protects and smooths your skin before and after shaving, I highly recommend using jojoba oil.

Jojoba oil is great for eliminating razor burns. It helps to moisturize and soften the area that you want to shave. I use it all the time in my shaving routine. Here is how I go about using it:

1) Clean Area That You Want to Shave – Use your regular cleanser here. Make sure that you clean off any excess oil, dirt or grease.

2) Apply Diluted Jojoba Oil – Apply jojoba oil on the area that you want to shave. Let the oil soak in for about 15 minutes. The Jojoba oil will soften your skin and create a smooth surface for your razor to glide.

3) Apply Organic Shaving Cream and Shave – Your safest bet is to use an organic shaving cream. This ensures that no harmful ingredients will be absorbed into your skin during the shaving process. Organic shaving creams are a bit more expensive, but you will definitely feel the difference after the shave. Apply shaving cream on the area that you want to shave and ensure that you cover all areas needed.

4) Shave with Clean and Sharp Razor – Minimize the drag by using a clean and sharp razor, this combined with jojoba oil pretty much eliminates any chances of razor burn. You will find that shaving this way requires very little effort.

5) Clean shaved area and apply moisturizer – Rinse shaved area with cold water and apply an organic moisturizer. Enjoy your newly shaved and beautiful skin!

I hope that my tips for using jojoba oil for shaving are useful to you. I have been using this method for a few years and I have never had a razor burn since I started adding jojoba oil in my shaving routine. I highly recommend this method! Thanks for reading my article! Happy shaving!

How to Detox Your Life

How to Detox Your Life

Yogic texts have been saying it for centuries– the mind, spirit, and body is connected— if one is out of balance our entire unit is thrown off kilter. In India the gurus and practitioners would use kriya yoga to cleanse the mind of toxins, use asana practice to release the issues in the tissues, and eat a satvic diet to keep the body clear and functioning optimally.

In today’s society (like in the blackstone lodge canmore ab)– we are not equipped with such practices– although we probably need them more than ever. We are constantly fed with the unrealistic expectations of the media, environmental pollution, and intense stresses of the infamous double day (full time mother plus full time job, etc).

Below is a series of practices you can do to purge your mind, body, and spirit into a state of optimal rebalance:

Detox Your Environment:

Zen buddhists believe the state of your environment affects your mind. So if your office space is messy, with crumpled paper, and misplaced files; it’s no surprise if your mind will also be a mess too! Start off by purging any paperwork you don’t need, and organizing your tools into compartments, so it’s easier to sort through what you need. You’ll not only save time, you’ll save energy which you can invest into greater productivity. You can also do a qucik pickup of your house for some more headspace.

Meditation for Detox:

Meditation is the best way to slow down your mind, grant clarity, and soften/understand tumultuous emotions. It’s scientifically proven, meditation de-stresses our minds, and sets us on the right path for the day. Start by sitting in the morning for five minutes, and watching your breath. When your mind strays, notice your thoughts, but don’t attach to the story. Come back to your breath, and continue. Once you can sit through five minutes effortlessly, slowly increase your sequence. I sit for twenty minutes each morning, and find the ritual sets me up for success for the rest of the day.

Detox Diet Cleanse:

When are body is cleansed of toxins, we are brought back into balance. If our bodies are not balanced, our minds and/or spirits will also be thrown off, and we won’t live full of vitality. I don’t recommend not eating or only drinking fluids, if you have hormonal problems or weak adrenals, this act will only wreck havoc on your system. Start by eating whole foods, and cutting all chemicals, wheat, diary, processed foods out of your diet. If you are familiar with the Wild Rose Diet, I’d highly recommend. Eat lots of whole grain rice, lean organic fish/meats, organic fruits/vegetables, and almonds. The first couple days might be hard, but once you break through the tipping point, you’ll feel absolutely fantastic!

Purple and bronze smokey eye makeup tutorial

Smokey eye shadow looks are a common love among most girls. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Kristen Stewart have been seen sporting different forms of smokey eye makeup looks. This look works great no matter what you complexion is.

Here is a fun purple smokey eye shadow tutorial with a pop of bronze. Make sure to team this look up with a winged liner look, since they look great together. This makeup look can be great for any evening event and will match almost any cocktail dress you choose.

So let’s go straight into how to create this smokey purple and bronze eye shadow look!

Things you will need:

  • eyeshadow primer
  • face compact
  • Eye shadow (Colours Needed Silver, Bronze, Purple, Charcoal/Black)
  • Black Eyeliner pencil
  • Liquid Eye Liner
  • Kajal/Black liner
  • Mascara
  • Lash Curler
  • Lash Comb

Step 1:
On clean eye lids, apply eye shadow primer and blend for a flawless makeup application. Applying primer prior to shadow ensures your look lasts all day and prevents the eye shadow from creasing.

Step 6:
The shadowing part is done. Time to move onto the liner. Make a tailed liner extension on to the upper lid only. Do not make it not too thick but as a thin and sleek line running from near the nose joint to the exterior in a winged form.liquid eyeliner on smokey eyes

Step 7:
Use a black liner pencil or a kajal on the lower rim. Join the lines at the eye ends but do not extend in a winged form. This will give a completely different kind of a look to this eye makeup other than the usual form of winged extensions.
