How do you prefer your hair around summertime; lustrous beach waves or pulled back in a pretty bun?! Whatever your style is, below are five of the cutest hairstyles to rock around summer and most of them are pretty effortless.

1. Beach waves- this tousled look is by far the most popular summer look and can easily be achieved.

How to get beach waves:

If you don’t want to use styling tools another method you can try is applying mousse right out of the shower on your hair and scrunching it. Follow by spritzing with sea salt spray, scrunching some more and letting hair air dry.

2. Braided headband- this look is super cute for summer days and very practical for a day at the beach.

You can wear it with a side ponytail like in the picture above. Or wear your hair down, or up in a bun. Check out an easy tutorial for headband braids below.

3. If you want your hair up in a bun, but want a cute accessory to match- try a bandana headband. Quicker than a braided one and a nice way to add color.

Simply fold the bandana and tie it around your head like a headband. Follow by putting your hair up in a messy bun, or if preferred leave hair down.

5. Loose braids are easy to achieve and look super casual to match summertime.

How to get a loose side braid:
Part your hair on one side, with a curling iron or hot roller create long waves on the top layer of your hair. Braid to the side in a normal or French braid style, but be sure to not make the braid tight. Spritz lightly with hairspray and add bobby pins to your hair just below your ear, on the side of your hair opposite the braid.

An alternative to a loose braid, and classic summer hairstyle is a low ponytail. Add some flair by adding waves or curls to your pony.

Hairtrade clip-in highlight hair extension review

Clip-in hair extensions are a great option for versatile hair looks without having to visit the salon.

Hairtrade.com has I&K clip-in highlight hair extensions available at their site at a very reasonable price. They are made with 100% human hair and are 18 inches in length. They come in a variety of colors, from bright pink to a subtle brown.

What’s so great about these extensions?!

As I mentioned, these clip-in highlights come in fun colors and allow you to wear them as you please without worrying about touch-ups or being stuck on one shade. You can go from blonde to purple strands in a simple step! You can use bobby pins that match your hair to ensure the clip-ins stay put all day, and will easily be removed when you are done.

My favorite part about these clip-ins is that they are 100% human hair and are priced very fair. In my opinion, that makes these extensions superb. They look and feel natural, and can be styled as you would your own hair. They can be curled, straightened and washed. Another great thing about 100%human hair clip-ins is they will last you a long time with proper care.

Lightest blonde I&K clip-in highlights

In the picture below, you can see the platinum clip-ins blended with my hair. My hair styling routine involves me switching up from my flat-iron to curling-iron. The clip-ins look great both ways, but in the picture below i decided to keep it  straight.

How to safely curl your clip-ins

Since these clip-ins are made with human hair, they can be styled as you would your own hair. But you still have to be cautious when doing so. As you would protect your own hair with heat-styling products, you should do the same for your clip-ins. Follow these simple steps for your extensions if you are going for a wavy-haired look!

  • Spray heat-protecting spray/serum to your clip-ins and gently comb it through.
  • Make sure clip-ins aren’t too damp, and clamp curling iron on ends.
  • Wind the clip-in extension around the curling iron as you normally would, and hold for a few seconds until you feel the clip-ins getting warm from the curling rod.
  •  Be sure not to yank out the curling iron, instead click it a few times until the clip-in extension becomes loose and you can gently remove the curling iron. This method serves in keeping the curl intact and preserving your extensions.
  • Spray with a bit of hairspray so the curl holds and gently run your fingers thru the extension for a natural blended look. Repeat process on other clip-ins.

Clip-in hair extensions are easier to use and more affordable than getting extensions sewn/weaved onto your hair. They can add length and volume to your hair, as well as a fun pop of color without the commitment. Hairtrade.com also offers great products specifically made to maintain your clip-ins in great condition.

10 hairstyles for long hair

Have long hair and looking for a new look?!   Check out a few styles below to get inspired, all of them are fairly long if you are not looking into sacrificing length. A good tip is to take a picture with you to the salon as a visual aid for your hairstylist, and to be very vocal about what look you expect.

1. Long and sleek with straight across bangs-  this look frames most face shapes well.  It’s a good harmony for high cheekbones or a squared jaw, and perfect cure for large foreheads.

2. Long and wavy with a middle part-  works good on round and oval faces, and balances off a long face.

3. Long layers with side swept bangs-  this style works well with almost all face shapes. Side bangs are a great option, since they can be worn on either side or swept back with a clip. This hairstyle works perfect on round faces.

4. Lots of body and lots of curls-  adding lots of layers to curly hair is a good way to manage over-frizzies and a puffy look. Keeping long bangs that frame your face is a nice way to call attention to high cheekbones.

5. Long bob-  this style isn’t too lengthy, but it is a longer version of a bob cut. Nice choice for round, oval and heart shaped faces. Very easy to manage on straight hair.

6. Long and curly with bangs-  softens square and rectangle-shaped faces, and looks gorgeous on round and heart-shaped frames.

7. Long and feathered-  The ” Farrah” a never-fading classic. Works well with long oval shapes by adding lots of texture and volume. Beware if you have very curly or lots of volume already in your hair, as this look is a bit high-maintenance.

8. An updated mullet-look-  can’t decide if you want it long or short? Try this look which can easily be transformed into a short bob with bobby pins, or keep the length in the back layers.

9. Long and parted to the side-  sometimes switching parts can give you a new look. Straight on top with long layered waves adorn an oval and round face very nicely.

10. Long and wavy with lots of layers- this hairstyle works well on balancing all frames, keeping short layers by your face allows you to add more body to your do and can easily be pinned back.
