Whiter Teeth for a Brighter Smile

The quickest and easiest way to improve your smile is to make your teeth sparkling white. There is a range of things you can do to get those perfect pearly whites.

You can start by avoiding foods that can stain your teeth. After that, you can get your natural teeth whitened, or opt to get dental veneers. Each of these options is detailed below.

1. Avoid Staining Foods. Keeping your teeth white involves staying away from foods that can stain them. Some foods can leave your teeth a few shades darker after you consume them. Here are the foods to avoid if you want a sparkling smile:
• Coffee
• Teas
• Cola and other dark sodas
• Red wine
• Dark berries and fruit juices

Smoking also stains your teeth, so avoid it for that reason and for its other negative health and beauty effects.

2. Home whitening. These over the counter products involve putting a whitening agent (which usually have hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient) in contact with your teeth every day for a week or two. This works to whiten your teeth by removing the top layer of enamel from your teeth, which has been stained by the foods you eat. There are a few different types of whitening products available which include:

• Whitening Strips
• Whitening gels
• Whitening mouthwash
• Whitening toothpaste

Professional whitening involves a visit to your dentist. Your dentist will apply a whitening compound to your teeth and then expose them to an ultra violet light, which whitens the enamel. This usually takes a couple of visits or more to achieve the best results.

3. Dental Veneers. If your teeth are very stained or they have other defects such as chips or cracks, dental veneers is an  option.  Dental veneers are made of a thin layer of teeth colored material, that are bonded to the front of your natural teeth to give you a perfect white smile. Veneers are made of a ceramic material that is custom molded to fit your teeth. Your dentist shaves a thin layer off of the front of your teeth and bonds the veneers to them. This involves two dental visits for molds of your teeth to be made, and sent off to be turned into custom veneers before they can be bonded to your teeth. This option is expensive but the results are quite stunning, and can be worth it if your smile makes you feel self-conscious.

So choose from these teeth whitening options and give yourself a smile you can be proud of, and feel confident every time your flash your sparkly white teeth.
